Negative Feelings/Thoughts

What if you have negative feelings/thoughts about a teacher or about staff-child interactions?

Pay attention to your first impressions or thoughts. It’s important to remember that your opinions going in can have a big impact on your interactions and the relationship that you will develop with this person. This is an opportunity for self reflection, a reflective conversation with the teacher, and a reflective discussion with a CIBC staff member.

Site Observation

What is the average length of time for an onsite observation in a classroom?

We recommend that observations be 30-60 minutes long when the teacher and children are present. The purpose of the observation form is to inform you about the program, guide you in observing the physical environment, curriculum and instruction, staff-child interactions and staff to staff interaction for subsequent reflective conversations and problem solving discussions.
