California’s Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant Training Program

The IECMHC Network is actively engaged in efforts to build workforce capacity in infant and early childhood mental health consultation in California with the goal of providing high-quality infant and early childhood mental health consultation services in early learning and care settings. The first phase of this effort is to enroll 100 professionals in Georgetown University’s Certificate Program in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation. The first cohort of 50 students will complete the program in November 2022. Applications for Cohort 2 will be available in late summer 2022.

The second phase of this work is the development of a California-based training program for infant and early childhood mental health consultants. To achieve this goal, the Network seeks to gather input from a diverse group of colleagues and stakeholders across our state via surveys and focus groups. We are drawing upon the perspectives of both those who provide and those who receive infant and early childhood mental health consultation. Surveys will launch in June 2022 and focus groups will run from July through September 2022.
